Fishing in Sarasota Bay is steadily improving this week with the full moon strong tides. The most dependable bite has come in 4-7 feet of water this week. We are catching trout, bluefish, jacks, as well as overslot redfish in the mix on the deeper flats. A 1/4 oz. jighead and a soft plastic worked under the hovering terns will produce all of the above mentioned species, but a livewell full of whitebait will get these fish in a frenzy when chummed, and it’s easy pickings from there! The redfish bite is getting better and with this hot water still approaching 90 degrees, a chunk of pinfish, ladyfish, or cut mullet will bring the best action. Chumming the redfish schools with whitebait is another great and exciting way to catch them. Catch em’ up!
