2019 Winter Holidays: Things To-Do

The 2019 holiday season has officially begun. Check out all these fun things that are happening around the Southwest Florida area. We have created a list of some cool events across the lower counties for adults and the whole family. Whether you are in Lee County, Charlotte County, Collier County or Sarasota County, there is something in here for everyone.

Festival of Lights at Fishermen’s Village
When: Dec. 6th – Dec. 31st (Nightly Lightings)
Where: Fishermen’s Village (1200 W. Retta Esplanade, Punta Gorda, FL 33950)
Entrance Fees: Free Admission and Parking
The people at Fishermen’s village will have an amazing display of more than 1,000,000 lights and old-fashioned traditional Christmas decorations. The whole village will be done up with holiday decorations. There will also be daily events, entertainment and holiday music playing.

2nd Annual Holiday Fest
When: Dec. 14th (2pm – 6pm)
Where: Sonshine Baptist Church (23105 Veterans Boulevard, Port Charlotte, FL 33954)
Entrance Fees: Free Parking, $10 per Child
Bring the whole family and enjoy some holiday cheer. The kids can meet Santa Claus and Frosty the Snowman. The children will also be able to make crafts in Santa’s workshop. Bounces houses, living nativity scenes, carolers, holiday music and a toddler snow area are only a few more attractions to look forward to!

Bob Hope USO Christmas Gala
When: Dec. 20th (5:30 pm – 9:30 pm)
Where: Military Heritage Museum (900 West Marion Ave., Punta Gorda, FL)
Entrance Fees: $60
Join others during a nostalgic night of recreated gold! Enjoy some Christmas favorites and comedic genius, straight from Bob’s USO Tour. There will be many well renowned impersonators to help complete the ensemble. At 5:30 there will be a reception with hors d’oeuvres and drinks with the USO show beginning at 7pm.

COLLIER COUNTY – Naples, North Naples, Marco Island, Immokalee, Everglades City

Christmas Tree Lighting
When: Dec. 7th (6pm)
Where: Veterans Community Park (403 Elkcam Circle, Marco Island, FL 34145)
Entrance Fees: Free
Join other Marco Island locals to officially mark the start of the Christmas season. The annual Marco Island tree lighting celebration is free to attend. The tree is always a hit for adults and kids of all ages!

Lee Greenwood: A Tennessee Christmas
When: Dec. 13th (Doors open at 7pm)
Where: Seminole Casino Hotel Immokalee (506 S 1st St., Immokalee, FL 3142)
Entrance Fees: Tickets start at $64
Lee Greenwood is a country music Rockstar. He has more than 30 albums to his name. This concert will be a special holiday treat for Collier County adult residents (concert goers must be 21 years or older). You will enjoy a fine show of some holiday favorites.

Naples Christmas Boat Parade
When: Dec. 14th (6:15pm – 8:30pm)
Where: Naples City Dock (880 12th Ave S, Naples, FL 34102)
Entrance Fees: Free to View or Charitable Donation to Participate
This year’s holiday boat parade will be hosted by Marine Industries Association of Collier County. Local companies and residents will show off their holiday themed boats in a 2-hour parade that will work its way along the shore for views to see. The Naples City Dock will host the start of the parade, the judges and the VIP Guests. All proceeds from participating donations will go to the Ricky King Foundation. You can view the parade in many places such as, the Naples city dock (the beginning), pinchers Tin City, Naples landing, Riverwalk Restaurant, The boat House, Bayview park and Kelly’s Fish House.

NYE Celebration w/ Live Comedian Vic Dibitetto
When: Dec. 31st (9pm – 2am)
Where: Off the Hook Comedy Club (2500 Vanderbilt Beach Rd. Suite 1100, Naples, FL 34109)
Entrance Fees: $110 – $650
Ring in the new year with gut busting laughs! Vic Dibitetto is a widely known comedian with a rather impressive rap sheet. You will start your night out with a 3-course meal with laughs on the side. Included in ticket prices: 3 course meal from a specialized menu, a New Year’s champagne toast, Vic’s Comedian Show, and post show music & dancing.

Lani Kai’s Monster Halloween Bash

Lani Kai Island resorts Club Ohana is hosting this year’s adult Halloween Monster Bash! Come dressed up in your best costume! Be ready for one of the best Halloween parties, partying way into the night. Enjoy a night of spirits, live DJ’s a costume contest and all kinds of scary frights!

Popular Boats

Holiday Nights
When: Nov. 29th – Dec. 23rd and Dec. 26th – Dec. 30th (5:30pm – 9pm)
Where: Edison and Ford Winter Estates (2350 McGregor Blvd., Fort Myers, FL 33901)
Entrance Fees: $2 – $30
For the holidays the estates are decorated to the nines. Featuring thousands of lights, a collection of historic decorations and a single unique holiday experience nightly from 5:30pm-9pm. Nightly events will include new decorations, food & drinks, live music and holiday crafts. During the ‘Holiday Night’ events viewings of the estates, museum and laboratory are all included. It takes an estimated 2.5 – 3 hours to get through the grounds, so be sure to make your rounds and enjoy the nightly holiday festivities.

31st Annual Fort Myers Christmas Boat Parade
When: Dec. 7th (6pm – 8pm)
Where: North Matanzas Pass (Fort Myers Beach)
Entrance Fees: Free (may require parking fees)
Lee county residents and local businesses sign up to show off their holiday themed boats in this annual parade. If you wish to sign up and join the fun of this amazing event visit your local chambers website to apply. The Fort Meyers Beach boat parade will begin at Salty Sam’s Marina and will travel up towards the Matanzas Pass Bridge. There will also be an open vote online for you to vote for your favorite boat of the night!

Deck the Halls
When: Dec. 8th (7pm)
Where: Barbara B Mann Performing Arts Hall (13350 FSW Pkwy., Fort Myers, FL 33919)
Entrance Fees: Seats Range from $30 – $100
The Gulf Coast Symphony and the Fort Myers Symphonic Mastersingers will be teaming up this December. Join these two brilliant musically talented forces for a holiday tradition! Enjoy a relaxing evening while listening to some of the holiday classics!

Holiday Pops Featuring Tony DeSare
When: Dec. 13th (7pm – 9pm)

Celebrate this joyous time of year with the entire family. With the most festive time of year comes celebratory holiday music. Join the Lee County orchestra and their special guest Tony DeSare this December in an epic musical show.

South Seas Holiday Stroll
When: Every Saturday in December before Christmas (12/6 – 12/21)
Where: South Seas Island Resort (5400 Plantation Rd., Captiva Island, FL 33924)
Entrance Fees: Free for paid hotel guests – $10 for visitors
The South Seas Island Resort transforms into an illuminated holiday wonderland each December. Whether you are a hotel guest or a visitor, come on by any December Saturday before Christmas to see the extravagant light display.

Salute to Vienna New Year’s Concert
When: Dec. 28th (Doors open at 7pm)
Where: Barbara B Mann Performing Arts Hall (13350 FSW Pkwy., Fort Myers, FL 33919)
Entrance Fees: $33+
Do you enjoy the finer things in life? Take a step into the Viennese way of ringing in the new year. This recreation of the concert that has announced the new year for over 80 years in Vienna. This performance will merry the Viennese music, European Singers, ballroom and ballet. Expect an immersive night into the history and joy of music and its correlation to the New Year!

Happy Holidays 2019

SARASOTA COUNTY – Sarasota, Venice, North Port, Siesta Key, Englewood

Turkey Trot (For Sarasota, Lakewood Ranch and Bradenton Areas residents)
When: Thanksgiving Day (6:30am – 12pm)
Where: Nathan Benderson Park (851 Nathan Benderson Circle, Sarasota, FL 34235)
Entrance Fees: $15 – $35
Help combat your Thanksgiving Day feast by starting the day off with a nice healthy turkey trot. There are various distances for adults and children of all ages. The main race is a 5k. All race participants will receive a 2019 turkey trot t-shirt. All race finishers will receive a sweet treat wonderful and a finishers medal and top finishers will receive a special commemorative gift.

Turkey Trot (Englewood Residents)
When: Thanksgiving Day (6:30am – 12pm)
Where: Ann Dever Memorial Park (6791 San Casa Dr., Englewood, FL 34224)
Entrance Fees: $5 – $15
The family fun run 5k and the family friendly fun run/ walk benefit the Englewood area cancer foundation. Start your thanksgiving out by giving back! There is a water break halfway through the run/ walks as well. Goody bags will be given to the first 200 registered runner/ walkers.

Lido Beach Holiday of the Arts 2019
When: Dec. 7th & 8th (10am – 5pm)
Where: Lido Beach (400 Benjamin Franklin Dr., Sarasota, FL 34236)
Entrance Fees: Free
Come see Lido Beach transform into a wonderful gallery of all types of art. There will be local, regional and even some national artists showcasing their unique art. From paintings to jewelry and beyond, there is bound to be a present for anyone on your holiday list!

Sarasota Christmas Glow Run
When: Dec. 7th (Registration 2:30 – Race Starts 6pm)
Where: Nathan Benderson Park (851 Nathan Benderson Circle, Sarasota, FL 34235)
Entrance Fees: $39 – $45
Bring the whole family! Adults and kids of all ages will enjoy this Christmas themed 5k run/ walk. Start your holiday off right with a healthy and fun event. There will be Christmas decorations at the start and finish lines and merry holiday music playing. Not that the Christmas decorations aren’t enough we are adding in some glow in the dark aspects to this lovely festive night run. The run will begin at 6pm and an additional treat can be found at the finish line, SNOW! Included in entry is T-shirt, finish video, finish medal, snacks, photos and live results. Top 50 finishers will receive a mug as a reward.

Sarasota Holiday Boat Parade of Lights
When: December 14th (6pm – 8pm)
Where: Marina Jack (2 Marina Plaza, Sarasota, FL 34236)
Entrance Fees: Free – $20
This year’s holiday boat parade will start from City Island. Want to get a good seat? The best viewing locations will be Marina Jack Restaurant, Bay Front Park and City Island. If you want to be more than just a spectator, you can visit your local Sarasota event calendar to sign up. Participants who sign up before 11.24.19 will receive free entry to the parade. Captains who sign up after 11.24 will be charged a $20 entrance fee. The last day to enter will be Dec. 14th.

16th Annual Lights in Bloom
When: Dec. 14th – Jan 4th
Where: Marie Selby Botanical Gardens (900 S Palm Ave, Sarasota, FL 34236)
Entrance Fees: Free – $20
With more than 2 million lights the gardens will look like a tropical holiday paradise. Nightly visits from Santa and other kids’ entertainment are a must! Make it a whole night, Food and beverages will be available for purchase, along with a cash bar for the adults.

Sarasota New Year’s Eve Pineapple Drop
When: Dec. 31st 1pm – Jan 1st 2am
Where: Downtown Sarasota (Main Street, Sarasota, FL 34236)
Entrance Fees: Open to Public
Bring the children and ring in the new year with some Florida Sun! Sarasota doesn’t do anything small, spend a few hours or the whole day celebrating the new year! Rides and games, live music and concessions are only a few of the attractions of this New Year’s block party and pineapple drop!
