Maverick boats are owned by Maverick Boat Group, which has been part of Malibu Boats, a publicly traded company, since 2021. Maverick Boat Group was founded in 1984 by Scott Deal, who built the company around the Maverick skiff brand and later added Hewes, Pathfinder, and Cobia. All four brands, including Maverick, are still built at the company's plant in Fort Pierce, Florida. Maverick remains the group's flagship line of high-end technical poling skiffs.
