Modern Hewes boats do not use structural wood. Today's Hewes are built by Maverick Boat Group with a resin-infusion process that bonds fiberglass and composite materials into a strong, light hull with no wood to rot. That is a big reason newer Hewes boats hold up so well in saltwater. Some older Hewes boats from past decades may have wood in areas like the transom or stringers, so if you are buying a used Hewes, it is smart to have a surveyor check those spots for moisture, just as you would with any older boat.
