A Hewes boat can run in very shallow water, often floating in well under a foot. For example, the Hewes Redfisher 21 draws only about 14 inches of water, and smaller Hewes models float even shallower. That shallow draft is the whole point of a flats boat: it lets you reach backcountry spots and fish over flats that bigger boats simply cannot get to.
