Hewes is one of the oldest and most respected names in flats fishing boats. The brand was started by Bob Hewes, who began building shallow-water skiffs in South Florida in the 1950s. Hewes boats quickly became favorites among saltwater anglers and fishing guides for their ability to run in skinny water. In 1989, Maverick Boat Group bought the Hewes brand and has built it ever since at its plant in Fort Pierce, Florida. Over the years Hewes has updated its designs and construction, including modern resin infusion, while keeping the shallow-water performance that made the name famous. The Redfisher series remains its best-known line.
