Stingray Boats is a privately held, independent boat builder based in Hartsville, South Carolina. It was founded in 1979 by Al Fink, who led the company for decades before handing over leadership in 2018. Since then the company has continued under new leadership while staying independent rather than joining a larger boat group, and Stingray has named Chad Helms as its president. Stingray remains family-oriented in culture and still builds all of its boats in Hartsville. Staying independent is a point of pride for the brand and a key part of its identity.
